Comments:

It's been an interesting journey since high school. Graduated from Wichita State University in 1983 after spending a season on staff coaching the offensive line. Had the great opportunity to play for and work with a Hall Of Fame Coach, Willie Jefferies (inducted in the HOF 2010), but found out quickly coaching wasn't my calling.

Terry Boren, who once was a teacher at Central (freshman year) put me on the path to what has been a 25+ year career in sales and management. This journey began with a little start-up he was working for (when we reconnected) called the Discover Card. Spent 13 great formative years with Discover learning how a mulit-million dollar business was built from the ground up-I will always be grateful to him for this opportunity. That expence is also why I have lived on the east coast for the last 21 years. I left Financial Services and followed my true passion which was technology and sales. I have been in the technology/telecommunications industry ever since. I am a manager on the strategic acquisition team for Verizon Global Wholesale.
Update: Was promoted to the Wireless Carrier team in January 2017 and now manage the business relationship between Verizon and 4th and 5th largest Wireless carriers in the U.S.

Recently saw a posting from Curtis Cooke and see that he also works for Verizon in Florida.

Be well all,
C

School Story:

School story.......

There were many. Like the time Lancer Martin put my football cleats on-WITH HIS cleats on too.....it was funny, but made me mad at the time. At WSU, I was quite surprised my 16s weren't the largest on the team! Close, but James "Jumpy" Geathers wore an 18 and he was 6'7"!! He also played 13 years in the NFL.

Back to high school: The time Brett Stitt refused to change his socks for an entire season our senior year. I had to sit near him! He may not admit it now, but I remember it clearly, sure others do too.

Those were some of the more memorable times....but I can say without a doubt the most enjoyable times I had were hanging with Mike Stewart and his family on weekends. He was just a good dude.

Favorite teacher(s):

Randy Steinle

Favorite subject:

None actually.....being honest.

Where did you go to grade school?

Hawthorne Elementry

Hey Joe,
You showed a bit of interest in North Dakota State FB, so sharing the latest on my Nephew and his journey. The kid could go from being a 3x FCS Nat. Champ to playing for the current FBS Nat. Champs....LSU. Time will tell, but it's looking good.
Hope all is well,
C

Hey Babe...Hope all is well. I have a nephew (my brother James' son) who just won a National Championship 1/6/18 with North Dakota State University. They beat James Madison U 17-13. Kid had a dominate game.

David, welcome! You brought back some vivid memories regarding Jim Pitts and the 2 5 on the asphalt....I usually ended up walking most of them in Jr. High!! :)
